Seaweed, Evergreens, & Musk.

The Oregon Coast's summer months in a bottle. Mer (pronounced Mehr as in "maritime") is my interpretation of walking along the historic Amanda's Trail through old growth spruce to Cape Perpetua in Yachats, Oregon on a warm afternoon. The scenic hike passes through open sunlit areas that offer incredible views of wide and often unpopulated public beaches. Curious Barred Owls may follow you for some time, and angry chipmunks will vocally disapprove of your presence in their forest. During migration, Gray Whales that appear as small as ants can be watched from the stone lookout shelter, built in the 1930s. And from this high elevation, you can see the subtle curve of the horizon as it meets the sky.

In this natural fragrance, seaweed contributes the briney salt of the Pacific. Clary sage and Siam wood provide light and fresh herbal notes similar to those carried on temperate ocean breezes. In addition to essential oils of evergreens native to the area (Douglas Fir, Spruce, and Hemlock), Mer also contains rare botanicals like plant-sourced Ambergris.

Mer is sweet and oceanic, with nuances of barnacle encrusted driftwood and gnarled evergreens growing in windswept directions away from the waves that beat against the rocks below. Within an hour, it dries down to a scent reminiscent of salty humid air against warm sweating skin.

Gently shake the vial before applying. For best results, dab onto fingertips and apply to the ends of hair, beards, or dark fibers/clothing, rather than skin. Extraits may stain. Store away from heat and direct sunlight to extend the scent’s longevity. Storing it in the box it arrives in is recommended.
